Not much detective work was needed to ascertain the
occupants of this house - they were all ministers of the parish church. But the current building was 138 years old, what was there
before? Details of an earlier house were
uncovered; the home of the parish priest at least back to 1630 and
probably 1540. Ancient documents
provided glimpses of the lives of the many occupants, from the vicar accused of fornication in
1625 to the antiquarian scholar curate of the late nineteenth century.
The research on the house and details of the 39 vicars of
Benson have been documented with maps and photographs in a comprehensive 24-page report.
